The 1970's band REO Speedwagon, borrowed their name from the REO Speed Wagon, a flatbed truck that the band's keyboardist Neal Doughty had studied in a transportation history class at the University of Illinois. The REO initials are those of its founder Ransom E. Olds, known best for the Oldsmobile.
